Micah had his nine month check up the other day. He only had to have a booster shot for the flu vaccine so that was nice. He handled it really well and only cried for a minute. He weighed in at about 17.5 pounds and is now 26.5 inches long! I was really surprised at his weight; he seems a LOT heavier than that to me! I guess that's the way you feel when you carry a baby around all day. He is starting to get a little clingy with me these days, but I'm alright with it (sometimes I can be clingy to him too!). These days Micah is busy screaming (like an Eagle) and getting into everything! The other day he actually lost his voice because he had been screaming so much! I found Chris on the couch saying 'Micah, what sound does an Eagle make??' to which he promptly responds with a shrill scream.
Micah has always been a very vocal little lad, but now it seems like he is putting things together. We think he's starting to understand 'Ma Ma' and 'Da Da', but we aren't sure. We'll keep you posted. It seems like every day I hear new sounds from him! I think walking will be Micah's next big milestone. He has started walking with help and I am a bit nervous he will catch on sooner than I am ready. New teeth are coming in all the time - he has 6 teeth right now and 2 more on the way! The poor little guy doesn't get a break! He handles it well, but we do have our days.
Micah is such a curious little baby, which makes being his mommy LOTS of fun! We enjoy reading new books, playing new games and eating new foods all the time. He definitely keeps me on my toes! Lately I have been working on his laugh. His dad doesn't really laugh out loud that often and I think he might be following in his footsteps. I have danced silly dances, made funny faces and talked in different voices to get this kid to laugh, but the laughter is few and far between! It really makes me cherish those times he does laugh! There's just something deep down inside of you that makes you feel so incredibly satisfied when you make your child giggle or smile. I just love this little guy through and through! I am still in awe of God's precious gift to us.
