Dear Micah,
This weekend we celebrated your 4th birthday! It is always hard to believe another year has come and gone! Just this week I noticed that when I look at you, your face looks so grown up. All of your “babyness” has faded away and you’ve turned into a little boy! When I looked into your eyes this morning and said with a dramatically sad face, “where did my baby boy go?” you responded with, “I’m your four year old boy now, but I will still give you hugs!” you then gave me a great big hug and said I could still call you peanut as long as I called you my four year old peanut.
You love being a family and often ask if we can all sit on the couch or on the bed together and “be a family.” You will sit there for a while and bask in all the love before you. It brings us so much joy to see you take pleasure in the simple act of being together! One of your favorite things to do right now is the peanut butter jelly sandwich: daddy and mommy are the bread, you are the peanut butter and Livia is the jelly.
You started preschool this year and have absolutely loved it! Every day you come home with a huge smile on your face and a new piece of artwork. You’ve become so independent this year! I love hearing you sing songs and make up stories while playing by yourself.
You are an extremely social boy and love spending time with the guys at the IFH. Every night after dinner you walk around the table and ask each of the guys if they want to play a game with you. You usually find one guy that has some free time and you play downstairs in the hallway for a good ½ hour before heading upstairs for your bath.
You love to sing! My all time favorite singing moment thus far has been during Church when you sang "Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again" so LOUD that the entire congregation turned around to look at us!
You are very cautious and sensitive to those around you. It has been a hard year for us as a family and you have learned that mommy needs “medicine” (hugs) when she’s sad. You are compassionate and tender hearted. I pray these characteristics continue to grow with you through the years as you mature into adulthood.
This week I’ve been taking you in; trying to memorize your sweet little face and the way you delight in your life. I love you so much and I can’t imagine life without you in it. You are truly a gift and we delight in you!
Happy Birthday, my sweet little 4 year old!
I Love you forever,
Mama
