A baby shower for Vanilla Bean

I thought a chocolate tasting would be fun in place of the cheesy baby shower games. It was a big hit! Our good friends, Sam and Sarah are getting ready to welcome their little bean into this world; affectionately referred to as "Vanilla Bean." A few of us hosted a baby shower for Sarah and I was in charge of the cake. Drawing inspiration from my talented sister-in-law, Ashley, I took a stab at this preggo cake. It was a bit rough, but I think with a little practice it could be easier next time!

Getting ready to frost. Unfortunately, I used mixing bowls and the cake sort of stuck to the bottom. OK, so we have a bit of an inverted belly. Nothing a little frosting can't fix!

The flower. Art is not my strong point! :)

The finished product!

*Note the lovely wet spot and extra layer of fondant near the belly button. My curious 3 year old decided he wanted to "test" the cake. Yep, he stuck his little finger right into the middle of the belly the night before the shower. It made for a nice story about what to expect in the toddler years!

Performing the C-Section. haha.

What a funny little cake!
