A few weekends ago I helped host a baby shower for a dear friend. Our friendship has grown deeper over the past few months and I am so thankful for her. It was a joy to celebrate her motherhood and the gift of life.
This cake was fun to bake and really fun to decorate! I think I am slowly gaining the reputation of "cake lady" at our Church. What can I say? I love to bake and experiment with cake decorating. My decorating has room for improvement, but I think I have found some great cake recipes!
The top layer was a yellow cake with chocolate espresso cream and chocolate buttercream frosting. Bottom layer was the infamous chocolate cake I made for Ben and Monica's wedding but this time with hazlenut cream filling instead of cream cheese. I have to be honest and say that the cream cheese frosting is better for the chocolate cake (in my opinion; though they are both great!). A nice smooth texture with the dark, rich chocolate makes for a perfect combo!
I also dabble a bit in diaper cake making. . . . . .
My wonderful Mother helped me with this one!
