13.1 for Mia

On May 30 Chris and I ran in our first half marathon together. It was a very empowering experience for us and we are so glad we did it! The run included several "emotional" spots for us and it was meaningful for us to journey through those points. In the first three miles we ran past the hospital Livia was taken to shortly after birth.

Halfway through the run we ran the same path we walked for many months; learning about our twin girls, learning of Mia's death, and giving birth to our girls.
In many ways the run was symbolic of our journey over the past months; long and grueling, but also joyful and victorious.

My favorite part of the run was when we sprinted to the finish line holding hands with big grins plastered on our faces. Yeah. We were that couple and I loved it. I felt victorious.
Victorious over death and the devastation it has brought.

Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?

Before the run, looking over the city!

Yeah! We finished!

Some of you have asked about donating to Mia's garden. We are setting up a way to do that. Stay tuned for more info!

Thanks to everybody for all your prayers, encouragement and support. We love you!

Way to go, Amy and Chris! You are such a stud for running a half marathon, Ames. So glad that you got to run it with your hubby and that it was another step in the grieving, rejoicing, and healing process for your family. Love and miss you so much!
