(From Amy)
Well, I think we are actually starting to get settled and feel more at home. One of the reasons I feel this way is because our lives are extremely busy - just like home! You never know what your day is going to be like here in Thailand! Sometimes we wake up thinking we have nothing to do and end up running around all day long.
Two days ago our "borrowed" car broke down on the super highway. This was quite the experience! Thankfully noone was hit while pushing the car out of the way. We were able to get the car off the road safely and call for help. The next day we went out and purchased a different car that we had been eyeying for a couple of days. God is so good to us. The new car that we have is in fairly good condition and runs like a dream! Hopefully we won't have any problems with it in the future.
Lately I have been teaching a lot of dance to the girls. They are working VERY hard! The dance is for our Christmas program. They all look so beautiful when they dance. Tomorrow we will start making a dance "costume" for them. They are so excited! There are so many cultural differences here when it comes to dance. The Thai/village dances are so different from our version of lyrical ballet. But, I find it fun and exciting to try and combine the two. The girls love to dance and ask me almost every day if we will dance! I am always delighted to teach them. Even though there is the language barrier it really doesn't bother me. They are fast learners.
Thanksgiving is approaching fast! Because of the HOT weather it just doesn't seem like Thanksgiving yet! Unfortunately we will have to have a Thanksgiving Chicken rather than a Turkey. I'm pretty sure we can't find a Turkey here. I will be learning a lot about how to cook this Thanksgiving! We will have several visitors during this time so we are excited and busy preparing.
Prayer requests:
- Amy's ankle recovery
- Clear communication
- Continued language learning
- Christmas program preparation
- Good health: physical, emotional, spiritual
Thank you for all your prayers and support!
